If I remember correctly (unfortunately, I can't provide a source to back me up, because I can't remember where I read it), the Chally 2 RPG29 hit, was a ricochet off the ground that went on to hit a week spot in the underside of the tank (street fighter, I believe, has an armour plate which extends back underneath the front of the tank to reinforce this area), it didn't actually penetrate any armour, it was just an unlucky 'bounce' so to speak. |

Indeed it was a ricochet that I know it got through the ERA but how far it penetrated into the hull i couldn't tell you. I find it quite funny that most people on the net think it completely penetrated through the frontal armor (i guess through the glacis plate) and completely destroyed the tank. |

Even funnier are the people on the net (especially in the 'our tank is better than your tank' forums) who deny that the RPG29 was ever in Iraq in the first place, contrary to all the evidence and eyewitness testimony!! |

well I've actually seen all three videos of the RPG-29s in Iraq. They've also been confirmed by the DoD, MoD, Insurgent video, Soldier video, and the New York Times so there's no denying their use in Iraq. |

And that is exactly why TND is the only armour site I will ever visit and trust, the people on here actually know what they're talking about e.g. you, 2ndtankie and Dave himself :-) |

Unfortunately i haven't got to work on Tanks though I've thought about going in and being a MOS 19K and so they'll put me on the Abrams. But i know my moms and my sister do not want me to Join the military so i do not know. Thats not to say i haven't spent a little to much time looking up tanks. |

You may not be a serving member of the armed forces, but you still know a lot more than some of the so called 'experts' on other armour sites :-) . The other reason I like this site, is that there aren't any endless 'our tank is better than your tank' debates. Sure, we all have an opinion about which one is best, but we don't have endless, pointless arguments about it. Everything discussed on this site is based on intelligent, well thought out opinions, or facts learnt from either serving on the vehicles in question, or in the case of yourself, based on thorough research. Like I said, it all adds up to this being by far the best armour site on the interwebnet!! |

A Ricochet of the ground meant it exploded underneith the hull around where the flat edge of the hull meets the glacias plate.. The hull isnt that thick and was purely the original Steal chassis that it penetrated. No ERA or Frontal armour was penetrated in that indecent :) It was a small penny sized shrapnel that entered the drivers cab and mashed the guys foot :)
